The Cajun HRC hosted their annual fall hunt test October 7&8, 2023 at the Gueydan Old Festival Grounds. Fifty handlers joined the Cajun HRC with over 100 dogs, both days to test their talents at passing and titling in started, seasoned, and finished.
Highlights from the test included Mark Polkey and his black lab, Troubadour’s Misty Morning Breeze “Breeze”, earning her 1000 points ribbon on Saturday. Breeze is a 10-year-old female out of NFC AFC Texas Troubadour and Little Miss Enchantress.
Following the awards presentation Saturday night, the 2nd Annual Lloyd Courville Memorial Puppy Run was hosted by Cajun members. Over 10 kids participated, lining up their retrievers and sending them to a hand tossed duck. Each child was awarded their very own medallion with the HRC logo after running their dog and received a round of applause by the gallery.
The Cajun HRC would like to thank all members, sponsors, judges, and volunteers that aided in making this event such a success. The UL Ducks Unlimited student chapter worked as bird techs both days, and we would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to each member that came. These students worked with our judges to set up test sites, man wingers, run errands, and cleanup sites following the test. We hope to continue our working relationship with their chapter for future tests, and events.
